Witch's Cat ring with 5.95 carat Green Cat's Eye Tourmaline in 9 carat Gold

The Witch's Cat ring. Cats with their large eyes seem to see more than we can, embodying deep powers of perception and intuition. This shimmering Green Cat's Eye Tourmaline is claw set in solid 9 carat Gold and flanked either side by little black cat faces in black enamel. 

This type of Tourmaline is called 'Cats Eye' due to the optical effect known as chatoyancy. This happens as light is reflected off of parallel microscopic tube crystals of another mineral inside the gemstone. The result is a vivid line that moves across the stone and looks like a watchful feline eye. 

The Tourmaline is cabochon cut and measures 11.00mm x 9.50mm x 5.70mm and totals 5.95 carats in weight.
